Mark Your Calendars! Episode 3: Sky, Sea & Shore Releases October 12th!
Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the country, but its coastline is anything but small.
On October 12 at 9 PM, Ocean State: Rhode Island’s Wild Coast returns with a new episode, “Sky, Sea & Shore,” premiering in primetime on WPVD–TV, Ocean State Media and streaming in 4K on PBS Passport.
From salt marshes and rocky shores to winding rivers and sandy beaches, Sky, Sea & Shore explores the interconnected coastal ecosystems that make Rhode Island unique—and the wildlife that depends on them.
The episode follows some of Rhode Island’s most remarkable coastal species, including river herring, ospreys, saltmarsh sparrows, piping plovers, and sandbar sharks. Each species tells a different story about the state’s waters and habitats, but together they reveal just how closely connected Rhode Island’s coastal ecosystems truly are.
Along the way, we meet the scientists, conservationists, fishermen, and other people working to understand and protect these places for the future. Included in this episode are some amazing environmental organizations including the Atlantic Shark Institute, The Nature Conservancy, Save The Bay, and more!
From the smallest tidal creeks to the open Atlantic, this is a look at the wild side of the Ocean State, and the people working to keep it wild.
